The State Public Scientific Technical Library of
the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the largest library in
Russia outside Moscow and Saint- Petersburg, containing 14.6 million volumes,
is creating a digital library of Old Russian books from its collection. It
exists on two levels: free online access (for cultural and educational
purposes) and on optical discs (for use by scholars), laying the foundation for
a distributed system of virtual depository uniting the collections of Siberia
and the Far East.
