The
article deals with the processes of reconstructing the ethnic culture of the
Slavs through linguistic means. The study is based on the names of persons
derived from ethnicity and geography in the Russian chronicles. As a result of
this approach the names most significant for medieval history and culture are
identified and analyzed in terms of their derivative features.
