Variability is one of
the essential and characteristic features of 18th-century Russian.
An important scientific objective is to create a Corpus of Variants of 18th-century Russian Vocabulary
based on a study of all the complex issues related to linguistic variation.
Corpus variants are created based on the Register
of the 18th-century Russian Lexicon, which is based on
material from the card index for the Dictionary
of 18th-century Russian.
