Тhe vita of St.
Sabbas the Sanctified, written in Greek by Simeon Metaphrastes and Cyril of
Scythopolis, were translated in medieval Slavonic milieus. In addition, another
hagiographic text was disseminated in Bulgarian vernacular compilations of
hagiographic texts in the 17th-19th centuries, known as modern Bulgarian damaskins.
This paper offers an overview of these Slavic texts.
