This
paper concerns the Old Russian Cyrillic orthographic system that used only one
yer letter, not “standard” orthographical rules. This system existed in
birch-bark documents in Old Novgorod from the mid-12th to the late 14th
century, has constant characteristics and can be defined as The Old Novgorod
orthographic system with a single yer.
